Why does my own search show a different position?+

Because YouTube personalises results using your history, subscriptions and location. Your own videos rank higher for you than for anyone else — which is exactly why checking your ranking by searching for it yourself is misleading.

How often do YouTube rankings change?+

Constantly for competitive terms, slowly for niche ones. Weekly is a sensible cadence: daily checks mostly measure noise.

Does ranking first matter on YouTube?+

Less than on Google. Most YouTube traffic comes from the home feed and suggested videos, not search. Search matters for tutorials, reviews and how-to content, and much less for entertainment.

Why do results differ by country?+

YouTube serves local content by default, so the same keyword returns different videos in France and the United States. Checking a market you are not in tells you nothing about your own reach.
