The problem we set out to solve

A video with 50,000 views tells you nothing on its own. It is a disappointment for a channel that normally does 500,000, and a breakout for one that normally does 3,000. Raw view counts bundle together channel size, active audience, video age, format and topic demand.

Most tools rank channels by absolute size, which produces the same large accounts everywhere and a list that barely moves from month to month. We measure something else: the gap between a video and the normal results of the channel that published it.

Why this matters across markets

A format that breaks out in Germany or Brazil often reappears in English-language channels weeks or months later. Watching a single market means seeing a format once it is already saturated.

VideoTrends measures channels across markets and languages, which is what makes it possible to see a format working somewhere else before it arrives on yours.

What we publish

Two things, both built on the same measurements: monthly rankings of the top YouTube channels by country, and a blog covering YouTube analytics, channel growth and creator earnings.

Our editorial rule is simple and it constrains us: we do not publish a number we cannot source. Where a figure is an estimate, a small sample or a self-reported claim, we say so in the text. Several widely repeated benchmarks — the "50% retention threshold", the "CTR is 40% of the algorithm" weighting — were never published by YouTube, and we say that too.
