Write descriptions where the first two lines work alone — because that is all anyone sees before the "more" fold.

How it works

  1. 01

    Describe the video

Include what a viewer gets out of it — that is what belongs in the visible portion.

  2. 02

    Choose short or full

Short is two or three sentences. Full adds context and a natural keyword line.

  3. 03

    Add your own links after

We deliberately generate no timestamps or link placeholders: fake ones get published by accident.

What people use it for

Publishing faster

The description is where uploads stall. Having a draft to edit beats writing one at midnight.

Making search-friendly context

YouTube reads the description when matching a search query. Vague descriptions cost visibility on tutorials.

Keeping a consistent voice

Generate from the same prompt shape each time and your descriptions stop reading like three different people wrote them.

Frequently asked questions

How long should a YouTube description be?+

Only the first 100 to 150 characters show before "Show more", and most viewers never expand it. Write those two lines to stand alone. Beyond that, length is for search context, not for readers — a few hundred words is plenty.

Do descriptions affect ranking?+

They contribute to search matching, well behind the title. Where they matter more is in what they enable: a clear description helps YouTube place the video in suggested feeds alongside related content.

Should I put keywords in the description?+

Naturally, in sentences. A comma-separated keyword dump at the bottom of a description is a pattern from 2015 that adds nothing now and makes the description unreadable if anyone does expand it.

Do hashtags in descriptions help?+

The first three appear above the video title, which gives them a little visibility. Beyond three they are ignored, and more than fifteen causes YouTube to ignore all of them.

Should I add timestamps?+

For anything with sections, yes — they create chapters and let viewers jump. We do not generate them because only you know where your sections actually start, and invented timestamps are worse than none.

Can I use the same description on every video?+

The boilerplate part — links, socials, a standard sign-off — yes, and most channels do. The first two lines should be specific to each video, since that is the part that gets seen and searched.
